Michigan Saves Program
Program Overview
The Michigan Saves Septic Replacement Loan Program (SRLP) offers low-interest financing to Michigan homeowners for replacing failing or near-failing septic systems or connecting to municipal sewer systems. This program, developed in partnership with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), aims to alleviate the financial burden of septic system replacements while protecting public health and the environment.
Key Features:
Loan Tiers:
- Tier One: Income-qualified loans with interest rates no higher than 1%, loan amounts from $1,000 to $30,000, and terms up to 10 years.
- Tier Two: Market-based loans available to all customers, with loan amounts up to $50,000 and interest rates based on credit qualifications.
Eligibility: Single-family homes with failing or inadequate septic systems, as determined by local health departments. Eligible costs include system evaluation, design, pumping, installation, and municipal sewer connections.
No Collateral Required: Loans are unsecured, with no liens or collateral needed.

Contact your local health department to define the project scope and obtain a construction permit.. All systems permitted through the SRLP must be designed in accordance with the program minimum standards.
